1. Kids Sale @ St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church
(Saturday, September 23)

Held two times a year at this church in Park Ridge (NW burbs), this is a marketplace to buy and sell quality, gently used children’s items at a reasonable price. Admission is $2 per adult. From 9am – 12:30pm.  Details here.

2. Apple Festival @ Long Grove
(Fri- Sun, September 22 – 24)

Long Grove is a picturesque and historic downtown just Northwest of Chicago. It’s filled with cobblestone streets and farmhouses. They are hosting their annual apple festival this weekend. Apple cider donuts, pies, and other apple specialties. Free. Details here.

3. Equinox Night Market @ Half Acre
(Fri – Sat, September 22 – 23)

This is a big night market featuring food, local vendors, live painting demonstrations, and music. Free to attend and all ages welcome. From 5 – 10pm. Details here.

4. Water Lantern Festival @ Humboldt Park
(Saturday, September 23)


Design and launch water lanterns with hundreds of other people in Humboldt Park. The festival is from 4 – 8pm and will feature food trucks and entertainment. You’ll design you lantern at 6:30 and launch it between 7 and 8pm. Tickets start at $27 if you book before 9/20. It gets more expensive after that. Details here.

5. Sausage Toss @ Jarvis Square
(Sunday, September 24)

Right off the Jarvis Red Line stop is this community square filled with restaurants in the middle of a residential neighborhood that’s closed off to street traffic. The community is celebfrating Oktoberfest all day. There will be food, music, and a sausage toss at 5:30pm. From 2 – 8pm.  Details here.
